Prosthodontics Clinic
A prosthodontist is a dental specialist with three years of post-doctoral training in the restoration of missing or broken down teeth. We are the experts in the management of crowns, bridges, complete dentures, partial dentures, and Implants.
Different Prosthodontics Services include:
Crowns/Caps
Crown is a dental cap, a type of dental restoration that completely encircles a tooth or dental implant and helps in improving the strength or appearance of the teeth and halt deterioration. A crown may be needed when a large cavity threatens the health of a tooth.
Bridges
Bridges are usually used to replace missing teeth in which case, at least one tooth on either side of the space created by the missing tooth must be prepared for a crown. A fabricated tooth is then joined to the crowns, and the entire structure is cemented to the prepared teeth. Although the patient cannot remove the bridge, special aids are available to keep it clean.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are used to replace some or all teeth. They are made up of titanium and may be parallel-sided or tapered and may or may not have threads. These fixtures are placed into the jawbone and allowed to heal until they are fully integrated into the bone.
Dentures
Dentures are the traditional method to restore the function and appearance of a patient who has lost natural teeth. Dental implants can also be used to improve the stability and chewing functions of dentures especially among patients who experience difficulties and/or discomfort wearing conventional dentures.
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are etched and then bonded to the enamel of the teeth and usually used to modify the shape and color of teeth. Prior preparation of the tooth is highly recommended to avoid over bulking of the tooth, but it is limited to the enamel and usually involves only a few surfaces of the tooth.
