PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, a leading mission-based healthcare institution, is seeking a highly competent and motivated individual to fill the position of Nurse In-Charges. The hospital is dedicated to providing quality, affordable healthcare and training services driven by Christian values and has four units namely, General, Eye, Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation, and Dental. In addition, the hospital has a School of Nursing, and a satellite clinic which is located at Matasia in Ngong. Job Summary
The Nurse In-Charge facilitates clear communication and coordination within the section and across departments, supports clinical excellence, and ensures that the units goals are aligned with the hospitals strategic pillars thereby fostering a cohesive and efficient care environment through multidisciplinary care.
Summary of Duties
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to nursing staff during shifts, ensuring optimal performance through regular evaluations, effective scheduling, and adequate staffing coverage.
- Supervise staffing, scheduling, and leave management for nursing teams while upholding high standards of customer service and safety protocols.
- Oversee patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure smooth and efficient transitions throughout the care process.
- Manage daily workflow and activities within the section, troubleshooting operational issues and ensuring seamless shift handovers.
- Coordinate patient care by assigning tasks, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring availability of necessary supplies, medicines, and equipment.
- Maintain high standards of nursing care through continuous monitoring, evaluation, and accurate reporting.
- Participate in quality audits and safety initiatives aimed at improving nursing standards and patient outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK)
- Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN)
- Valid nursing practicing license.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing a team.
